Pending all state and local approvals, The Lodge at Otter Creek is scheduled to break ground in summer 2006 and open in fall 2007.

Located on 36 wooded acres near Middle Road, The Lodge will be modeled after Shelburne Bay in both design and services. Plans include 65 one and two bedroom independent living apartments, 35 one bedroom assisted living apartments and a specialized memory care center. Additionally, 38 cottages and 42 townhouse condominiums designed for active independent living are to be built on the campus. . Also planned are a clubhouse with a pool, restaurant style dining rooms, outdoor recreation areas, a workout facility, walking paths and other common areas for activities and gatherings. As with Shelburne Bay, all residences other than the condos will be offered on a rental basis with no entrance fees.
Gregg Beldock, Shelburne Bay Managing Partner commented on the selection of Middlebury, Vermont "We have studied the market and it is clear that there is a demand in Middlebury and throughout Addison County for appropriate and dignified housing for older adults. Too many seniors in this market cannot find suitable housing and services. As important, Middlebury and the surrounding area have attracted families who have parents from out of the area in need of housing and some assistance; it is often this situation that creates the demand for senior housing.
